The following are computer programs previously provided by the Vermont Local Roads Program through training and follow-up support. These and other programs are available from the consultants listed.

VOBCIT
VTrans has released the new Vermont Online Bridge and Culvert Inventory Tool (VOBCIT), a program accessible to Vermont town officials to enter their bridge and culvert data. A user manual is currently being developed along with a training package. Road Surface Management System (RSMS) (Download RSMS Software Here)
Developed by New Hampshire's LTAP Center at the University of New Hampshire. The program provides for collecting road surface data, condition assessment and developing management plans and budgets. Contact also R.J. Turner Co. Some RPCs are skilled in RSMS. To view the file unzip the folder and find the setup icon to run application.

Microcomputer Data Management System (MDMS) click green link to download install folder, then click on the setup.exe file to install.
Developed by the North Dakota Department of Transportation, is a tool for collecting day-to-day information on road materials, personnel activities, and equipment use. To view the file unzip the folder and find the setup icon to run application. Download directions for use here.

Minor Structure, Culvert & Cattle Guard Management System
Developed by the North Dakota Department of Transportation. The culvert module can include any culvert, including cross culverts and driveway culverts. The program is designed to record location, type, material, dimensions, and the condition of minor structures and culverts.

Municipal Equipment Management System (MEMS)
Originally developed by the New Hampshire LTAP and most recently improved by the Maine Local Roads Center. The Maine Local Roads Center charges $50 for the program and manual. Roadway Sign Inventory & Management System
Designed to meet the needs of county road and city street departments, this program provides a procedure for collecting and recording initial sign inventories and severs as a vehicle for maintaining the inventory and managing the system. The program was updated in February, 2008 with special attention to the need for more detailed sign retroreflectivity assessments. The program provides for both observed and electronically sign reflectivity assessments.

Rural Roadway Inventory & Management System
This program, sometimes referred to as a Pavement Management Program, includes three modules one for asphalt pavement, another for concrete pavement and a third for gravel roadways. In addition to roadway geometric data and pavement distress assessments, version 3.0 includes an added feature that calculates estimated per mile values based on criteria provided by users.

Sign Information Management System (SIMS)
Enables users to identify unsafe traffic signs, whether due to deficient signs, supports, or obstructions. After recording data into SIMS software, they apply, find, query, and report analytical tools to correct deficiencies and document actions. Based on proven public works management principles, the management system is easy to understand and its software easy to use.
