Our support goes out to the many communities around the state that are facing extensive damange from Tropical Storm Irene. The following are materials to aid in the recovery effort. We will continue to update this list with more resources and information as it becomes available.

Resources to Aid in Recovery

• All counties (excluding Grand Isle) have qualified for Public Assistance. If a municipality would like to submit a request, the following action needs to be taken:
  • Complete and file a spot report (download) and fax it to the FEMA office at 802-951-2727
  • Attend a REQUIRED briefing meeting from VTrans in order to receive funding (completed).
  • Contact FEMA's Vermont Office at 802-951-2747 with questions

• Consultants to aid in Bridge Inspection. VTrans is overburdened and unable to perform local inspections for towns at this time.
• Engineering firms to aid in recovery (looking to grow this list)

• Info on River Management Assistance from the Agency of Natural Resources
• VTrans has estalished two Incident Command Centers in Rutland and Dummerston. Contact the Rutland center at (802) 786-5826 and Dummerston at (802) 254-5011. Towns with roadway or railway issues should contact the command center in their geographic area.
• Info on requesting mutual aid from NH
• The VLCT is posting resources offered by towns to assist other towns, and resources needed by towns
• The status of state roads from VTrans
• Many towns are updating their websites to inform citizens which roads have been reopened.
• #VTresponse lists towns in need of volunteers
• VT Response Exchange provides provides a basic mechanism for those affected by the Irene floods to connect with people looking to donate items.
