Vermont Local Roads Listserv

You can communicate electronically with people involved with local roads and public works throughout Vermont by subscribing to Vermont Local Roads list serve. If you would like to pose a question to your colleagues about a road, bridge or other public works issue, simply send your message by email to one address. Everyone on the list not only receives the question but also the responses that others send.

Our list will never be sold! It is strictly to provide rapid access to information you need about upcoming workshops, and issues of safety, transportation, public works, and other areas that are addressed by the Vermont Local Roads Program through our many free and low-cost services. This list receives approximately 1 to 3 messages per week. You may need to let your server know that this is not spam so that it can accept these updates.

Guidelines for Using the Local Roads Net List serve

Local Roads.Net is an open discussion forum for people who are associated with roads and public works in Vermont. This list is supported by St. Michael’s College. You need to be a member of the list to post a message or receive posted messages. Please read and observe the following guidelines.

  • Include a subject line that accurately reflects the content of your message. This allows members who are not interested in the topic to bypass the note.

  • We will not tolerate “flaming”. A flame is a message containing abusive content of any sortname calling, profanity, ridicule of another member’s beliefs or opinions, and the like. Discussion of issues is encouraged but, if flaming occurs, we will remove the offender from the list.

  • Be careful with humor and sarcasm. Without voice inflection, messages can be easily misinterpreted. Subtle humor tends to get lost and may be interpreted as a flame.

  • The list is not for the purpose of soliciting products by vendors, although members may discuss products for the purpose of providing information to other members.

  • Be brief. A good message is only one or two sentences long. The longer the message, the fewer the people who will read it.

  • When replying to a message, please copy the entire list only if your response is pertinent to all.
